Protected Time for Learning
The Practice is supported by NHS North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group to provide and facilitate important training and learning events for GPs and practice staff to help them keep up to date with relevant information and continue to deliver the services at the practice.

The North Riding Community Health Primary Care Network are seeking to recruit a care coordinator specialising in support for patients registered with a learning disability within the locations of the PCN Practices. These are Ampleforth & Hovingham Practice, Derwent Practice, Ayton & Snainton Practice and Sherburn & Rillington Practice. This role will be part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within the PCN and will contribute to tackling inequalities in health and social care.

Important message regarding telephone calls from our surgery
Please be aware that when our staff call patients they are not able to say where they are calling from until they know they have the patient on the telephone due to patient confidentiality. 
If you are happy for our team to advise other members of your household who is calling then please make us aware next time you call.

The 'My Planned Care' website contains helpful information and guidance for patients waiting for a hospital consultation, treatment or surgery. This included information about waiting times at your hospital and other supporting and local services while you wait. This site is updated weekly and can be viewed by anyone.

Dispensing Service
We want to let you know about the new and exciting developments that we have been implementing at the practice.
Over the last few months, we have been re-shaping our dispensary and upgrading our dispensing systems. We are aware that this has caused some delays and we have had some teething problems with the new system. We are confident that we are now in a position to provide a better than ever dispensing service to those patients that we are allowed to dispense medication to. Regrettably we are still not allowed to dispense to those patients who live within one mile of a Pharmacy.
Some of you may have already been sent a text to collect your order from our new medicines collection locker. If we have your mobile number, you will be sent a text to collect your order when it's ready. The locker allows you to pick up your medicines 24 hours a day and prevents you from having to queue at the dispensary door. If this is a service that you want to access, and we don't have your number please let us know when you place your order. 
There are several ways to order your repeat prescriptions:
  • Call 01723 864553 and leave your order on our answer machine by pressing option 1
  • Call the above number and speak to one of the dispensing team, this may necessitate a wait at busy times
  • Order online at www.ayton-snainton.co.uk
  • Download and order through the NHS App
  • If you have a query about your medication, please call 01723 864553 and press option 2, again this may necessitate a wait at busy times

We apologise to those patients who have had a longer wait than usual over the last few weeks.


***Important information regarding visiting the surgeries***
Please note that we don't yet know whether the rules for the NHS will change.
So, until this is confirmed, please continue to:
-wear your mask in the surgery
-keep distance from others when in the surgery
-arrive no longer than five minutes before your appointment time
-avoid attending for routine care when you have Covid
-tell us if you have Covid symptoms or are Covid positive when you have an appointment
That way we can keep all patients safe - including those who cannot be vaccinated or whose immune systems are compromised/weak.

The data held in GP medical records of patients is used every day to support health and care planning and research in England, helping to find better treatments and improve patient outcomes for everyone. The new data collection, known as the General Practice Data for Planning and Research, reduces burden on GP practices, allowing doctors and other staff to focus on patient care. NHS Digital has engaged with the British Medical Association, Royal College of GP's and the National Data Guardian to ensure relevant safeguards are in place for patients and GP practices.

From 1st September 2021 pseudonymised (non-identifiable patient data) data from GP medical records will be shared with NHS Digital. NHS Digital will not collect patients' names and addresses. Any other data that could directly identify patients (such as NHS Number, Date of Birth, full postcode) is replaced with unique codes via de-identification software before the data is shared with NHS Digital.
